Born in Australia with strong family ties here, my painting is inspired by family interaction. It's the emotional content I wish to convey foremost, using the proximity of each person with the other and broad gestural brushstrokes to describe their unique pose.

For history's sake I'd like my family to be able to find themselves in my paintings. However, I am more concerned with playing with mark making and colour.

Analogous colours excite me, i.e. purple > blue > green > orange > red > purple.
