Ursula is remembered by all artists at the studios [2018]
As an artist with our studios for over 20 years, Ursula was one of that select group of alumni that, through their artistic perseverance and endeavours maintained the reason the One+2 artist studios continue to exist and thrive.Born in South Africa where she graduated in Fine Art, Ursula came to Australia in 1975 after living in Canada, USA and Europe.
A painter inspired by the play of light in the natural world as well as the city, her interest is in distilling her experiences in abstract compositions. A key feature is a fascination with incorporating fragments of handwritten words removed from their normal contexts and used not only as formal aesthetic elements, but also to suggest mood, atmosphere, even echoes from the past.
