Chrissy Hammond

Chrissy Hammond was born a twin in South Korea and was adopted along with her sister, by an Australian family in Sydney.

In 1999 Chrissy graduated with a degree in Fine Arts majoring in sculpture from COFA at the University of NSW, she also studied at The University of Texas in the USA.

Following a passion for object design and craftsmanship, Chrissy spent many years in the fashion industry where she art directed, designed and handmade shoes for her own men’s footwear label “Marsu Homme”.

Chrissy has never stopped creating or making art but has recently made the decision to concentrate on her professional art practice, making sculptural works in many mediums, manipulating and experimenting with materials.

Chrissy’s current studio practice is working with leather stretched on canvas stretchers, experimenting with traditional bespoke shoe crafting methods and painting. Using leather, paint, nails and antique tools to create sculptural works for walls.
