Ria Vlavianos

Elefteria Vlavianos is an abstract artist. In her practice she is interested in process of reductionism. She approaches the act of painting as a means of visually distilling and transforming the smallest of details found on displaced objects into large-scale field paintings.

She is inspired by her dual interest in traditional Greek and Armenian textile crafts. Ongoing themes within her practice are memory, renewal, vibration, beauty and time.

Elefteria Vlavianos graduated from the Australian National University School of Art in 2002 with 1st class Honours in painting and has a BA hon. (Politics) from the University of Adelaide. Currently a candidate for a PHD in Graduate Studies in Visual Arts – School of Art, Australian National University.

Her work is held in private and corporate collections – nationally and internationally including the Embassy of Spain (Canberra) and Rabo Bank.
