My inspiration is the effect of light, texture and weathering within a marine industrial environment. I enjoy working with oil on canvas to create layers of textured colour. Composition is also important to my work. I like to isolate objects from their surroundings and focus on aspects of colour, tone or texture to create a more intimate painting.

My aim is to capture the beauty in these “seemingly ordinary” subjects. My studio overlooks the White Bay silos and I can see the large cargo ships coming and going. This is a constant source of inspiration for me.
