My art practice has been mainly inspired by wilderness locations. I am interested in the way nature falls into patterns and systems which are layered and can appear similar when viewed from an aerial perspective or close up. I’m interested in macro and micro viewpoints and linking the cellular structures with the overall shapes and forms of the landscape. My abstract work is watercolour, pen and ink and pencil on paper.

I also work with oil on linen attempting to capture the memory and experience of being in a particular landscape. I’m looking for shapes and patterns and simplified forms using colour and tone to give a general feel for a specific location. My recent exhibition FLOW Iceland was looking to capture the feel of a cold bleak landscape with massive volumes of water flowing from melting ice and glaciers.

My current interest is to include the figure in the landscape as it relates to specific environmental conditions. We are currently in the longest drought in living memory and I’m investigating the way that landscape and water or lack thereof impact human physical and psychological behaviour.
