Grace Burzese is a Sydney based artist who works in the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics. Her process based art making is inspired by the exploration and play of colour, materials and form. Grace has held numerous solo exhibitions and has been collected in both private and public institutions.

Whilst building a painting I am usually thinking formally – how one mark, colour or shape responds to what has already been laid down to extend or harmonize the painting, or to disrupt it, creating tension or playfulness. It is during the construction that evocations of place or a feeling settle into the painting. It is then that they open up to being something beyond themselves or pure abstraction. The works are personal snapshots of embodied space. How form and colour are registered as triggers of time and memory.
