Author's note: A note of recognition is due here to Edwin R. Moore, former Director and Service Officer of the Otsego County Veterans Service Agency. Mr. Moore tirelessly advocated for and acted on the behalf of families that lost loved ones in World War II. The files are full of letters that Mr. Moore wrote on behalf of the families. Later in life Mr. Moore wrote for the local newspapers and was well known as the "city historian." His efforts on behalf of the Goldstar families may have gone unnoticed to the community at large but not to this author. He is due a tip of the cap.
