Brief History

The department was founded as one of the pioneer departments at the inception of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, in 1964. It began with the award of the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) as a single major, i.e., Fine Arts, combined with other subjects. Later, Fine and Applied Arts became a double major course of study in the 1979/80 session. By the 1984/1985 academic session, the department began awarding Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.Ed) degrees in affiliation with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, alongside the NCE courses. Consequently, the department has remained a degree-awarding one to this day.
