Hi!

My name is Myka Walljasper, and I am so excited to be back in the Orion School District this year. I come with 9 years of teaching experience.  I became a teacher to encourage students to be themselves, persevere, and realize they can do hard things. Being a teacher is my way of impacting the world. 

I attended Black Hawk College and Western Illinois University. My degree is in Elementary Education with an endorsement in middle school language arts and social studies.  I completed my Graduate Program through Western Governors University, obtaining a degree in Instructional Design and Technology. 

Reading is one of my favorite things in this world. Reading allows you to obtain knowledge, escape to different worlds, and anything in between! My favorite books are the Harry Potter series (Ravenclaw is the superior house ^_^).  Writing is my favorite aspect to teach because, to me, writing is a puzzle. You just need to put all the pieces together to create a masterpiece. 

Some random facts about me: My favorite color is purple. My favorite food is anything Mexican. My favorite place to shop is Goodwill. I love anything sparkly. I love to wear bows in my hair.  My favorite hobby is theatre- it is my happy place! I also love to crochet, read, and sing.

I am honored to teach in the Orion School District-where students are pushed academically, given out-of-classroom experiences, and where students are put first.  Please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. We all want what is best for our student (s)!
