Greening

We love being Green!

Our current "green" and sustainability practices include:

• Re-using election coroplast signs collected from previous elections, for our street signs

• We have requested from the parks and recreations department to position 4 recycling bins at the event

• We are encouraging attendees to bike or walk to the event

• We are encouraging our artists to help distribute posters and leaflets on their regular trips to work, grocery shopping, doctors appointments, etc.. so as to save gas

• We are using plain cheap non-glossy white paper for printing our posters and leaflets

• We use alternative sources for our production items by searching on freecycle.org, facebook market place, local thrift stores, etc.. (We just received the 9 tables we needed for this event, from a church that was giving them away, as they had purchased new ones)

• We are working with local area businesses to encourage spending in this area versus driving great distances

• We are working with local area artists instead of pulling in large outside acts. This helps the local economy to retain some of the money and also helps the local artists benefit to put towards their local rent, and fuel, and driving expenses.

• We are encouraging our poster hangers/leaflets distributors to ride bikes and walk as much as possible to save on gas.

• We have reached out to the local high schools for volunteers and offered unpaid internships as well. This too can save fuel/carbon footprint stuff.
