If you are starting the competition preparation, you can start with the AOPS introductory books and move to intermediate/advanced books. At some point you can start with competition preparation books. Take the tests in the beginning of the competition series books ( https://artofproblemsolving.com/store/item/aops-vol1, https://artofproblemsolving.com/store/item/aops-vol2, https://artofproblemsolving.com/store/item/competition-math ) and start solving problems from these books. Also start practicing with level1 problems from previous year handbooks or OPLET.
