Creating Community Mobility Hubs
The idea of a community mobility hub, where individuals can access an array of community services, along with transit, is growing in popularity. The idea of a one-stop shop for services related to health, employment, and social services – embedded in transit stations, creates a “hub” where residents have improved access to vital services. Additionally, if residents who are not aware of transit services visit the community hub to access other services, they can learn about transportation. This session will provide attendees with an overview of the concept and practice of community mobility hubs, and offer considerations for working with community colleagues across agencies to develop a hub approach.

At the Intersection of Transportation and Workforce Development

one person at a time. Focused on the creation of workable career plans in underserved and rural populations, and the collaboration with already established local agencies, organizations, and support mechanisms, transportation often becomes a critical barrier to success. Don’t Forget about the Sidewalk
Mobility management professionals are charged with connecting community participants to accessible transportation services. Because of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) these services must be accessible, creating inclusive opportunities for riders with mobility challenges. However, what happens when riders can’t access transportation services or stations because of inaccessible pathways and sidewalks? This session will address the importance of a holistic approach to community mobility that includes a focus on accessibility – across transit services, and the sidewalks that facilitate access to these services.
