High Speed Rail (HSR) is one such mode of transport that connects metropolises located at long distances with each other (alike air transport) while connecting the intermediate small cities and towns too (unlike air transport). This new connection between metropolises and between metropolis and intermediate towns change the time scaled geography for the places it connects. Direct and indirect implications of this connection are huge, especially in terms of urban expansion, trade and economics, travel characteristics and commute as well as environment.
