Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), International Honor Society in Education, was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. The Omega Phi chapter at UHD offers future educators the opportunity to serve the community, foster mutual cooperation, support, and professional growth for educational professionals, and recognizes excellence in the field of education.

Our prestigious honor society, Kappa Delta Pi-Omega Phi Chapter was established in 2014 under the University of Houston-Downtown's co-sponsorship of Faculty members, Dr. Christal Burnett and Dr. Colin Dalton. In 2016, Dr. Bernado Pohl became a co-sponsor following Dr. Dalton. In 2018, Kappa Delta Pi is under the sponsorship of UHD's Assistant Professor of Science Education, Dr. Franklin Allaire.
