The how and the why.

Welcome to my portfolio and thank you for visiting. 

My name is Oscar Mendonca Dias a digital artist (painting and photography) based in Hoorn, The Netherlands.

This portfolio is updated from time to time and is a non-thematical mixed selection of the various styles I embrace. It is also the only platform where I post the images in digital form as I prefer to see them printed, framed and hanging on a wall. 

As you will see I am not committed to a specific art style or movement and I rather like to experiment. In fact, I tend to use the style that best suits the narrative I have in mind be it impressionism, expressionism or even neoplasticism. 

What i paint cannot be photographed. All of my paintings are inspired by impressions, feelings, emotions, fantasies and what not. I try to create something out of nothing and bar a couple of exceptions, even the portraits you will see on my portfolio are also fruit of my imagination. 

On the photography side, I mostly only capture what I cannot and do not want to paint. Therefore, everything that is real and visible.

Art is an abstraction, the isolation of a moment in time to create something that only the human brain can conceive. 

The portfolio consists of three main pages, namely:

-Paintings, 

-ICM and Abstract photography 

-General and fine art photography. 

The vast majority of my digital paintings are printed on canvas at my standard 60x90cm 60x60cm and 60x40cm formats. On the photography side, all images are high resolution RAW files and can be printed at any desired format.
