In October 2025, I was deeply honored to receive the Honored Award—an experience for which I am profoundly grateful. The recognition came as a complete surprise, made even more meaningful by the fact that three of my students independently nominated me. Their belief in me was incredibly humbling and affirmed the purpose behind my work as an educator.
Honored is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and uplifting exceptional teachers, selecting only ten educators nationwide each year. To be chosen as one of those ten is something I do not take lightly. As part of the recognition, I participated in a photoshoot alongside the students who nominated me, and sharing that moment with them is a memory I will cherish forever.
Students are often unaware of the lasting impact they have on their teachers, but these students have influenced me in ways they may never fully realize. I strongly believe in the power of connection and that meaningful learning can only occur when students feel genuinely seen and reached. This recognition reaffirmed my belief that relationships are at the heart of effective teaching.
Received formal recognition for the Honored Award from the Senate and General Assembly.
