Thank you to everyone who came to our March 27, 2019 meeting. The City of Omaha does not have a social media presence, instead relying on Jean Stothert's personal/professional social media accounts.

Other municipalities have made an ethical choice to create distinctions between the City as an entity, the office of mayor, and the office holder. By having separate accounts, residents can communicate with the City as a public body instead of the mayor. This approach recognizes that “The Mayor” is not “The City,” generates opportunity for clearer communication, and de-politicizes issues. The people of our community should be serviced by the City of Omaha differently than the Office of the Mayor.

As part of our action, please email the appropriate officials [and copy us] to request a change to social media policy.
