Week of 9/4/17 & 9/11/17

4th Graders this week will start learning about singing in parts. They will continue to build on their knowledge of Melody and Harmoy as we talk about the different parts of a choir.

Students this week will be learning about octaves, descants, and patriotic music. We will be learning how to use a singing voice, and blending as part of a choir. We will also be reviewing saying, playing, and clapping a variety of rhythms.

This week fourth graders will be reviewing the triplet rhythm and learning how to play, identify, and count sixteenth notes. We will discuss how sixteenth notes fit in the structure of music in 4/4 time. Students will count 16th notes using a" ___, e, &, a" method to increase articulation of the rhythmic pattern. They will also drum 16th note patterns on a variety of surfaces.

4th graders will dive into rhythmic patterns this week. We will review quarter, and eight notes in a meter of 4/4 time. Students will learn how to play, sing, and count triplets in music.

Week of 8.7.17

This week students will learn the rules of OMA, how to play and treat instruments. They will create and share their personal narrative about how music is a part of their lives, using words and pictures.
