School Consolidation

As the Olympia School District explores school consolidation, OSSEC is working to make sure the needs of students with IEPs and 504 plans are part of every conversation. We are gathering concerns and priorities from families, compiling them into a working document we can present to the district on an ongoing basis, and recently met with Superintendent Murphy and board directors Seidel and Tourtellotte-Palumbo to discuss how school closures could affect students who receive special education and accommodations, and how best to support them if consolidation moves forward. We’ll continue advocating for transparent, family-informed decision-making and will share updates as the process develops.
