Welcome

Hello New Students of OU!

Now that you’ve gotten past my very official and “schoolboard approved” cover page, we can really get into the good stuff. This blog is going to be your guide to all the myths that this school likes to dress up and make into good PR. Do you really think that the Big 12, headed up by Zeus, did all that shameful stuff that mythology is made of outside of the university? No! They were all college kids just doing crazy college kid stuff.

Do you think that the Trojan War was a real war? Nah, it was just a really intense rivalry game that divided the Big 12 when half of the gods bet on OU and the other half bet on the University of Troy! Don’t even get me started on how that whole rivalry got started! Typical girl drama between Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite!

Most of the animal constellations were created when students stole rival schools’ mascots! To ensure they wouldn’t be able to get them back before the game, they were sent into the night sky. Come to think of it... we may have taken things a little too far. The Fighting Bulls of Crete College and the University of Nemea Lions are still pretty pissed about Taurus and Leo. They get together every year to try and get revenge by dressing up the Hercules statue here at OU in ridiculous outfits.

Of course, one of the constellations was created for a much more tragic reason. The Hunter was created in memory of Orion, whose time here at Olympus University and on Earth was cut too short.

For now, just enjoy your first few weeks of school and check back every now and again for the real versions of the myths this school cherishes so much.

Your friend,

Nobody
