Established in 1945, the Olton Social Club is a gem of a location which for many years has been one of the areas best kept secrets. Originally known as the Gluepot (as once you joined you didn't want to leave), the club was started by the fire wardens and ARP after the 2nd world war as a place to meet, drink and share stories.
Although the club still honors and celebrates it's heritage supporting our heros of the 2nd World War, we have moved with the times and now celebrate a diverse club welcoming a wider spectrum of members, families (with children of all ages) and well behaved pet dogs. We continue to move with the times and look to adapt as needed to ensure the clubs continued success during these difficult times in the hospitality industry.
The club is known by its members for the friendly atmosphere, excellent beer, snooker (2 tables), darts and entertainment all of which is supplied for a low annual subscription together with low bar prices. We are a key club which means we control who comes into the club, making it a safe environment for members and guests alike, a huge positive in this current climate. For those who prefer the outdoors, we do have a private sun trap garden area to relax, drink and smoke. Whatever you prefer, a quiet drink or interaction with other customers, we are the club for you.
Although we can not stop members attending the club during opening hrs, members are able to book the room for private functions (sorry, no 18th, 21st Stag or Hen parties). We have the ability to move the snooker table to maximise the space available which allows for a DJ or live band (ask about our resident DJ who we can supply at a discounted rate). Unfortunately we are not licenced to supply food for your event but we are able to receive and store any foods supplied by outside caterers to ensure all your guests have an enjoyable time. We are able to cater for up to 100 head which tends to be enough for most parties.
Look out for our open days where we will encourage you to attend for the day with entertainment, or if you prefer ring the bell and ask for a look around the club when we are open. We do restrict none members to a maximum of 3 visits a year with a member, on the 4th visit we would expect the guest to become a member to be fair to our paying members. For couples, only 1 partner need join and we welcome both the member and partner. As a key club, only the member will have entry but we will allow entry for the partner while they wait for the member in a safe haven (and of course allow purchases at the bar). It may take a few visits for all the staff to get to know you, so please do bear with us for the 1st few weeks.
