I decided to join the Grand Challenge Scholar because the program is at the forefront of making changes on a global scale. The program's vision truly resonated with me because of the challenges the program strives to solve by planting the seed of change in future engineers. I see myself in the program, and I believe that the program can put me on a path to help me achieve my goals. My ultimate goal is to help other developing countries develop their energy infrastructure. I want my legacy to stand on being able to move the growth of some countries forward to create a better living standard for their population. The UMBC Grand Challenger Scholars train will be a crucial advantage to my goal.
Make Solar Energy Economical
The Grand challenge that I am truly passionate about is the Sustainability Challenge with the focus on "Make Solar Energy Economical". I am interested in this problem because of what I experience as a kid. Growing up in Nigeria we had inconsistent access to electricity. One thing that was fascinating to think about is how electricity came and went throughout the day. I am hoping to help other growing countries to develop their energy infrastructure by utilizing renewable energy.
