Scrabble: From Novice to Social Player
First one has to know the goal of the game and the rules. After that...
What 4 skills does a Social Scrabble player need?
Vocabulary A player doesn't have to know the meaning of the word, they just need to know that the sequence of letters is a playable word.
Aaagmnr ...or Anagram! A player needs to be able to find the words in the tiles on their rack.
Where? What is the best place on the board to play this word?
Bingos Have a basic ability to find and play Bingos. If you can do this once in a game, then you will probably be able to compete with your friends. If you can do this twice, then you will probably beat them.

Catalog description
International players whose first language is not English play at a Championship level. How do they do this? They memorize word lists and approach the game as if it were a mathematical puzzle. They strategically put the words in the best positions on the board. In this course we examine what is learnable about what the champions know and we will learn and practice the skills needed to play at the championship level. Those skills include finding Bingos, anagramming quickly, and strategies and techniques for improving your vocabulary.
