Prior to the start of my internship with MCCOY, the following objectives were set and have now been met throughout my internship experience.
H2. Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders individually and in group settings using verbal, written, and electronic modes of communication.
I have communicated with community partners via email and zoom to plan events and activities throughout the community.
H3. Demonstrate and gain transferable skills in a professional work environment. I will learn about project planning and implementation.
I am currently planning and implementing social emotional learning activities for Indiana Public Schools. I am also working on a case study to help connect schools to community resources. These two projects have provided me the opportunity to enhance my skills in project planning and implementation.
H4. Work effectively individually or in a team-setting to accomplish assigned tasks. I have worked with the MCCOY team as well as community partners to accomplish assigned projects throughout my internship experience.
My internship has allowed me to develop my skills in project planning as I worked through planning social emotional learning kits for students. I have also developed skills in communicating with stakeholders as I have worked on an attendance policy case study.
My classroom experiences have greatly contributed to my success in my internship role. My public health courses such as Intro to Public Health and Social and Behavioral Dimensions of Health have helped me understand the importance of organizations like MCCOY and the work they are doing. Other classes like Strategic Planning and Lean Methodology have helped me to connect how my individual work and projects contribute to a greater cause and positive outcomes in communities.
