I have always had a passion for serving and advocating for underserved populations and people in need. Throughout my studies at IUPUI, I have developed an understanding of how that passion can lead me to be successful in a healthcare leadership role.
This major will allow me to be involved in opportunities that have an impact on organizations, communities and individuals.
Throughout my academic career, I have gained a knowledge of healthcare systems as well as skills in general business competencies. These skills include problem-solving, time management, teamwork, and communication. I have also gained skills in using programs such as Excel and PowerPoint that will be useful throughout my career.

In my intern role with MCCOY, I have communicated with community partners to plan community events. I worked with the MCCOY team to create Social Emotional Learning Kits for students grades kindergarten through eighth grade at the Daniel Webster School 46. These kits will promote social and emotional health among students. I am also assisting with an attendance policy case study and analysis.

I have learned to effectively work with a team to solve problems and provide the best patient care possible. I have also utilized customer service skills in this role as I assist with patient intake and ensure a positive experience upon arrival.

In this position, I assist the Human Resources team with projects to ensure the hospital system is following regulatory standards. These projects include participating in mock surveys in preparation for Joint Commission Surveys and primary source verification of professional licenses of employees throughout the IU Health system.
