The beauty of nature captured up close.
The Bunny Cactus
This picture was taken at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in December of 2020. This picture shows a type of the bunny ear cactus. It shows how there are different types of cacti and with them the different types of defense systems each cactus has, such as the bunny ear cactus having tiny clumped together spikes.
Arizona's Baby
This picture was taken at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (Arizona) in December of 2020. Arizona is one of the most cactus populated states and sometimes they are called the trees of Arizona; the cactus is small but has the desert vibe and setting around it making it a baby Arizona.
Velvet Dark
This picture was taken in Gerome, Arizona in October of 2020. The black flower standing out against the colorful flowers in the background makes this picture amazing. It shows that the color of an image isn't always the focus but can still be in an image. The flower also looks as smooth as velvet.
Rose in the Abyss
This picture was taken at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (Arizona) in April of 2021. The rose stands out against the ever so encompassing black background and this was created through the pictures location. The background was originally all shadows and the rose was the only thing that was in the sunlight, so with the correct camera settings I was able to make it look like the background was black and have the rose the shining centerpiece.
Prickly People
This picture was taken at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (Arizona) in November of 2020. There was this grouping of cacti that caught my eye and then I spotted the yellow cactus alone. I thought about how people sometimes isolate themselves with a prickly exterior that you have to get through to see this shining, bright person.
Arizona's Fall
This picture was taken at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (Arizona) in November of 2020. The vibrant colors of this picture is what stands out to me the most because it shows that Arizona can be beautiful despite everyone thinking it is just a dry desert. The vibrant colors also bring in a happy mood and feeling to the picture that always sparks joy when I look at it.
The Darken Path
This picture was taken in Prescott, Arizona in May of 2020. The feeling of this picture is very ominous and I love it because it entices you into it but you're wary of going too far. This was achieved by making the picture have a brighter center and darker edges that creep into the center of the photo.
