Image of gabions placed along the right bank of the stream when looking upstream. There overgrown state seems to indicate a past streambank stabilization project.
An exposed segment of channel along the left side of the stream when looking upstream. I took the large number and size of plants to be an indication that the channel had been dewatered for a substantial period of time, perhaps years.
An iridescent brown damselfly resting on a leaf. This specimen is an example of one of the three damselfly species I encountered in my surveying of the stream.
Taking measurements of water conductivity.
The results from the specific water pH test.
My base of operations for surveying the area.
Faintly visible feeder stream enters the main channel from the right when looking downstream. The feeder stream was equally destitute of water when compared to the main channel.
The uppermost reaches of the surveyed length of stream. The outflow pipe from which the surveyed length starts is visible in the background.
An oddly colored trickle adjacent to a downed stump whose contents I was uncertain of. I figured that the most probable identity of the substance was tree sap expunged from the stump by the heat after it was cut.
View obtained by looking immediately upstream from my base of operations. (See previous photo). This is photo X.
View obtained by looking immediately downstream of my base of operations. (See previous photo).
