The choir sings a variety of music from our great treasury of Catholic music, from traditional hymns to polyphony to ancient chant.
"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy." (Sacrosanctum Concilium para. 112)
"...psalms and hymns and spiritual songs"
~ Ephesians 5:19
After the Second Vatican Counsel, the Holy Father Pope Paul VI desired that the whole, universal Church would have a common way to sing the Ordinary together, so he sent out to all the bishops of the world a booklet titled "Jubilate Deo." It contained a bare-minimum repertoire of Gregorian Chant that all Catholics would know and be able to sing una voce - with one voice.
