FAQ
A motion is a prospective new policy that districts submit to be voted on at annual conference
Districts can submit 6 motions
All the motions are then sent out to districts, where each district can vote to prioritise 6 motions
Once the pack of motions is finalised it is sent back to the districts to give members a chance to submit amendments
What is voted on at conference then instructs the executive to take those motions forward
Some subject are difficult to resolve quickly so similar motions may be submitted every year
Some are met with immediate change and we see those changes today
Every motion has a proposer and seconder who speak on behalf of the motion
You can submit speaker cards to speak for or against a motion
It is important that you submit cards for motions if you strongly feel they need supporting or opposing
The more the better, so submit anyway, and if you are called and don’t wish to speak you can withdraw and the next speaker will be called
