Student Assistance Counselors are certified with advanced training and experience in the field of substance abuse and mental health. SACs coordinate and implement the overall components of a Student Assistance Program. SACs are available to provide confidential counseling and referral services for struggling students and their parents/guardians. The ultimate goal is to empower students to successfully navigate their own challenges and contribute to a positive school climate.
The purpose of the Student Assistance Program is to provide assessment, intervention, and referral services to students and their families who are experiencing difficulties due to the following:
Substance abuse
Depression
Stress and anxiety
Family issues
Self-injury
Bullying/Harassment
Identity
Grief
Anger
And other issues
The program's goal is to empower students to increase coping and decision making skills, build a stronger support system, and enhance self-esteem.
