Russ McDowell

7th/8th Grade Asst Coach

I lived most of my youth in Missouri playing everything from football, wrestling, track, cross country, to basketball and baseball.

Later I spent a decade as an ice hockey goalie, transitioned into coaching youth ice hockey for a couple years, as well as supported Russell Stover Hockey for an additional three or four years on and off the ice.

My involvement in lacrosse has grown organically over the past number of years through my kids and last year I served as the assistant coach for the Olathe 7/8 team.

Cole Smith

5th/6th Grade Asst Coach

I graduated from Rockhurst High School and was a captain for the 2017 LAKC champions. I then attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and spent 4 years working as a strength and conditioning student intern with the Swim and Dive, Women’s Soccer, and Men’s Lacrosse teams. After graduation I served as an Infantry officer in the United States Army and currently work for the State of Missouri.

James Broughton

James earned a degree in Sport Administration while playing college basketball. He founded the youth lacrosse program at the Wichita YMCA. James has coached youth lacrosse for 5 years and multiple sports for over 15 years. His vast experience also includes officiating multiple sports at several levels.

Chris grew up playing lacrosse in Yorktown Heights, NY, one of the top lacrosse towns in the country during the 80's and 90's.  He went on to play in 3 Division 1 national championships for Princeton University, winning two of them, from 1998 to 2001.  At Princeton, Chris was second line middie/4th attackman and on man-up for his sophomore through senior seasons.   Chris moved to Kansas City in 2006 and has helped various lacrosse programs over the years.  In addition to helping coach for Olathe, Chris is a director for a women's lacrosse club.   Chris and his wife reside in Overland Park, KS and have 5 children, 4 of which are in the Olathe school district.

Bryce McElwain

My name is Bryce McElwain. I am 20 years old and I have been playing lacrosse for 5 years. I played midfield for Olathe Lacrosse through high school and I continue to play in men’s leagues in the summer. I’m excited to teach the game to the newcomers and watch there love grow for the sport.

Gordie Edwards

Asst Coach

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I attended Holland Hall School and played varsity lacrosse. I furthered my lacrosse career by playing for various travel teams in high school, including the Kansas City Orange. After graduating from Mizzou, I relocated to Kansas City. Today, I serve as the Partner and CFO of a start-up fleet maintenance company. When I'm not working, you can find me riding Harley Davidson motorcycles or practicing my stick skills while playing fetch with my dog, Roxy.
