Preceptors

Ali Ahmadian, BSPharm, PharmD

Ali Ahmadian earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1994 and his Doctor of Pharmacy in 1997, both degrees from University of Kansas. In 2006, he took a position as a clinical pharmacist at Olathe Hospital. Currently, he is a cardiology team pharmacist and is actively involved in teaching nursing staff on heart failure pharmacotherapy management. His practice interests include cardiology, pharmacokinetic dosing, and anticoagulants. He is a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students on the Cardiology rotation.

Dr. Ahmadian serves on Heart Failure PI team and MI Focus group at Olathe Hospital as well as Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacists Governmental Affairs Committee. He holds several pharmacy professional organizations memberships and is certified in BCLS and ACLS. He has been a member or the Residency Advisory Committee in the past two years.

At work, Dr. Ahmadian enjoys teaching and interacting with colleagues, pharmacy students, residents, patients, and other members of health care professionals. At home, he enjoys spending quality time with his family.

Matt Bilhimer, PharmD, BCPS 

Matt Bilhimer currently serves as the Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Olathe Hospital in Olathe, KS. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2014 and completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice residency at Plainview Hospital in Plainview, NY and his PGY-2 Emergency Medicine pharmacy residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY.


Prior to his role as Clinical Manager, Dr. Bilhimer was a member of the Emergency Medicine & Critical Care clinical pharmacist team. At Olathe Hospital he sits on the Stroke, Code Blue, PT&D, and Policy & Procedures multidisciplinary committees. He is also an active member of the Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacy (KCHP) as well as ASHP. He is very passionate regarding pharmacy residency training, currently serving as residency co-coordinator. Dr. Bilhimer is certified in BCLS, ACLS.


When scheduling allows, Dr. Bilhimer enjoys picking up clinical shifts in the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit. His clinical interests include procedural sedation, toxicology, anticoagulation reversal, management of migraine headache, analgesia, hemodynamic support, and any aspect of patient care involving ketamine. Additionally, his non-clinical interests include identifying research & academic writing opportunities for students and residents. Outside of work, Dr. Bilhimer keeps busy with running, reading, hiking, while trying to keep up with his wife and two increasingly quick children.


Perry Carrington, PharmD, BCCCP

Perry Carrington graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2017. She completed a PGY1 residency at University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Missouri and a PGY2 residency specializing in Critical Care at Greenville Health System (now Prisma Health - Upstate) in Greenville, South Carolina. She started at Olathe Health as part of the critical care/emergency pharmacy team in October 2019.

Dr. Carrington is the chair of the Resident Wellness Subcommittee and a member of the Sepsis Committee and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Early Recovery After Surgery Workgroup. Other than critical care and emergency medicine, her clinical interests include infectious disease and medication safety but the most rewarding part of her job is having the opportunity to precept APPE pharmacy students and PGY1 pharmacy residents in the critical care unit. She currently serves as a residency co-coordinator and is preceptor for the Critical Care, Advanced Critical Care, and Precepting rotations. 

When she is not at work, Dr. Carrington enjoys spending time with her family, reading, journaling, and even attending the occasional ComicCon or anime convention (complete with cosplay).


Divine Chi, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP

DIvine Chi is an oncology pharmacist at the Olathe Hospital Cancer Center. He graduated from The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed his PGY1 residency at Olathe Hospital, He spent 2 years practicing as a cardiology pharmacist before transitioning to medical oncology. He currently serves as preceptor to pharmacy students and residents in medical oncology.

Dr. Chi’s practice responsibilities include providing pharmacotherapy services, formulary management, and USP 797/800 oversight for the Cancer Center. His primary areas of interests include cardiology, oncology and sterile compounding operations. He is an active member of HOPA and ASHP. At Olathe Hospital, Dr. Chi is a member of the Cancer Committee and the Pharmacy, Therapeutics and Dietary Committee.

In his spare time, Dr. Chi enjoys synthesizing music, creating digital art, as well as designing and programming video games.

Zachary Curren, PharmD, MPH

Zachary Curren is a Transitions of Care pharmacist at Olathe Hospital. He has a Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health from Samford University (2021). In 2022, he took a position at Olathe Hospital with the intent to establish an ambulatory care presence within the hospital system. He primarily practices in the internal medicine and family medicine clinics. Dr. Curren’s practice responsibilities include warfarin therapy management, drug interaction assessments, chronic medication management, patient counseling, pharmacotherapy recommendations for acute and chronic conditions, and medication cost assessment.

He is an active member of several professional organizations including Phi Lambda Sigma, APhA and ASHP. As a pharmacy student, Dr. Curren was involved in leadership both nationally and locally including serving as the Chair of the APhA-ASP National Standing Committee on Communications (2020 – 2021), President of the McWhorter School of Pharmacy Class of 2021 (2017 – 2021) and President of the McWhorter School of Pharmacy Phi Lambda Sigma Chapter (2019 – 2020).

Outside of pharmacy, Dr. Curren is a songwriter, singer, rapper, record producer and DJ based out of Kansas City. He goes by the artist name “Current” (which you can find on all streaming platforms) and is consistently working as a creative in his home studio. Dr. Curren also loves weight lifting, videography, photography and Chick-fil-A.


Aaron Hunsaker, PharmD, BCCCP

Aaron Hunsaker, Pharm.D. is an critical care/emergency medicine clinical pharmacist at Olathe Hospital. He graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy in 2020. He then completed a PGY-1 residency at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska and a PGY-2 in critical care at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Hunsaker’s practice interest other than emergency medicine and critical care include developing patient specific pharmacokinetic plans, cardiology, and precepting a wide range of learners. When he is not at work, he enjoys trying new breweries and coffee shops, riding his bike, watching baseball (go Cards), and attempting to play golf.


Rachel Jankowski, PharmD, BCPS

Rachel Jankowski is a cardiology clinical pharmacist.  She graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.  She is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy.  At Olathe Hospital, Dr. Jankowski is an active member of the American College of Cardiology HF and MI Focus groups, precepts the Transitions of Care rotation, and is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee.

Dr. Jankowski is an active member in ASHP and KCHP.   Professionally her focus has been in heart failure, transitions of care, and anticoagulation with other areas of interest including stroke and alzheimer’s dementia.

In addition to life as a pharmacist, Dr. Jankowski is a mom of 3, active in her church community, and when able loves to travel, fly, spend time with family and friends, kayak, and read.

Salam Kabbani, PharmD

Salam Kabbani is the Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist at Olathe Hospital.  She graduated with her PharmD from California Health Sciences University in 2019 after which she completed a PGY1 residency at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe hospital. Her practice interests include pharmacokinetics, allergy de-labeling, and managing immunocompromised patients. She is passionate about anything long-COVID related given her personal experience with the disease and her memoir regarding her experience is being published in November 2022.

 

Dr. Kabbani has been extensively involved in pharmacy organizations since being a student and her roles included starting a Phi Lambda Sigma chapter at her college of pharmacy and chairing the APhA-ASP national Awards Standing Committee. Currently she is serving on the ACCP ID PRN social media committee as well as the editorial board for APhA’s Transitions Magazine.

 

Outside of pharmacy Dr. Kabbani loves hiking, reading, and walking her cat Luna. She loves traveling to new places and visiting her friends and family.   

Alison Kahler, PharmD

Alison Kahler received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas.  She is a clinical pharmacist at Olathe Medical Center and serves as the preceptor for pharmacy residents on the Staffing rotation and students on the Internal Medicine/Surgical rotation.  Dr. Kahler practices in a variety of pharmacy settings including medical-surgical, orthopedics, diabetes and oncology.  She currently serves as the pharmacy representative on the Medication and Pump Safety Committee, Diabetes Committee and Residency Advisory Committee. She is BLS and ACLS certified.  Her primary areas of interest include diabetes, pain management, research, and student development.

Dr. Kahler enjoys time with family and friends, riding bikes, kayaking and taking care of many livestock in her backyard.

Amber Lucas, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP

Amber Lucas is the Pharmacy Operations Manager, Obstetrics / Neonatal Specialist and PGY-1 Residency Program Director at Olathe Hospital. She received her PharmD from the University of Kansas, her MBA in Healthcare Management from New England College, and completed a PGY1 residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. 

Dr. Lucas precepts residents and students on Obstetrics/Neonatology, Practice Leadership, and Pharmacy Management rotations.  She has led multiple departmental initiatives related to USP regulatory compliance, neonatal and obstetric medication therapy management, patient safety, scheduling, and residency programs throughout her career.  Dr. Lucas has published and presented on a broad variety of clinical and leadership topics, including preceptor and professional development, clinical leadership, the U.S. pharmacy practice model, professional policy and advocacy, and obstetric and neonatal medication use and safety.

Dr. Lucas serves on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Stakeholder Advisory Committee and as an expert consultant on maternal behavioral health for theMatrescence.com community.  She served on the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Board of Directors as Chair of the ASHP House of Delegates from 2015-2018.  She is past Chair of both the ASHP Council on Public Policy and the ASHP Fellow Recognition Committee.  She served as President of the Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacists (KCHP) and was honored as KCHP Pharmacist of the Year in 2012 and with the KCHP Legacy Award in 2018.  Dr. Lucas is a Fellow of ASHP and was a University of Kansas School of Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year in 2015.  

Dr. Lucas enjoys time with family and friends, weekends at Table Rock Lake, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, snowboarding, and driving her orange 1965 Mustang which is the same car she first drove at age 14.

Carrie Meyer, BS Pharm, BCPS

Carrie Meyer completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1992 at the University of Kansas.   She has been a clinical/staff pharmacist at Olathe Hospital for 17 years and serves as preceptor for APPE students and residents on the Internal Medicine rotation.  She is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy.  Ms. Meyer currently practices in a variety of pharmacy settings including med-surg, orthopedics, and oncology.   She currently serves as the pharmacy representative on the Pain PI Committee and Fall Committee.  She is immunization, BLS, and ACLS certified.  She is a member of ASHP.

Kim Moore, BS Pharm, BCPS

Kim Moore completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1988 at the University of Kansas. She is a clinical/staff pharmacist at Olathe Hospital and serves as a preceptor for the Internal Medicine rotation. Currently, she is a student preceptor on the Med-Surg floor which focuses on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients, stroke patients, post-op CABG patients, post-surgical TAVR and Watchman patients and DKA. Her practice interests include cardiology, oncology, antibiotic stewardship, pharmacokinetic dosing and patient teaching. She serves as a pharmacy representative on the Ethics Committee and the COPD Readmission Committee at Olathe Hospital.  She is certified in BLS, ACLS and BCPS in Pharmacotherapy. She is an active member of ASHP, ACCP, KCHP and GKCSHP.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid KU basketball and Royals baseball fan.

Justice Oehlert, PharmD

Justice Oehlert is an Emergency Medicine clinical pharmacist at Olathe Hospital. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2020 and then completed his PGY-1 residency at Olathe Hospital. He stayed on with Olathe Health and was briefly a clinical pharmacist at Miami County Medical Center and an overnight pharmacist at Olathe Hospital prior to transitioning into his current position with the emergency medicine/critical care team.

Dr. Oehlert's clinical interests include infectious disease, procedural sedation, stroke, toxicology, and medication safety. He also enjoys the opportunities he has to precept students and residents. He sits on the Resident Wellness Committee as well as the Stroke Committee and is a member of ASHP and KCHP.

Outside of work, Dr. Oehlert enjoys travelling, scuba diving, pickleball, video games, and listening to music on his DIY speakers.

Phil Schneider, BSPharm, PharmD, FASHP

Phil Schneider is the Director of Pharmacy of Olathe Hospital and Paola Hospital. He has a BS in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa and he completed an ASHP-accredited residency in Adult Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Additional credentials include certificate of completion of the Pharmacy Leadership Institute from Boston University (2017) and Caldwell Butler Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (2015). He serves as a preceptor to pharmacy residents in longitudinal Practice Leadership as well as the elective rotations of Pharmacy Management and Advanced Pharmacy Management.

Dr. Schneider’s responsibilities include planning, budgeting, and human resource management.  He has oversight of medication use throughout the system including the clinics, the oncology center, and both hospitals.  He serves on multiple hospital-wide committees including PT&D, IT Steering, Outstanding Employee Committee, Interdisciplinary Peer Review, and Value Analysis.  He chairs the hospital’s Medication Safety Committee. He is a preceptor for IPPE students for the University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City colleges of pharmacy.

Dr. Schneider is actively involved in ASHP, KCHP (formerly KSHP) and GKCSHP and is a past-president of the Kansas Society of Health-system Pharmacists. He served two terms as treasurer of ASHP (2010-2016) and was previously a member of the ASHP board of directors (2004-2007). He received the KCHP Legacy Award in 2016, the KSHP Harold N. Godwin Lecture Series Achievement Award in 1994 and was KSHP Hospital Pharmacist of the Year in 1997.


Christine Tafoya, PharmD, BCCCP, BCEMP

Christine Tafoya is an Emergency Medicine & Critical Care Pharmacist at Olathe Hospital in Olathe, KS. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy at Creighton University in Omaha, NE in 2016 and trained at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. She then served as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist in St. Joseph, MO for three years, and then as a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO until 2023. 

Dr. Tafoya is board certified in critical care (BCCCP) and emergency medicine (BCEMP). Her professional interests include resuscitation, trauma, ECMO, PK/PD in critical illness, and medication safety. She enjoys precepting the Emergency Medicine rotation, and serves as Adjunct Experiential Faculty for Creighton University, University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Kansas. 

Dr. Tafoya is also actively involved with several pharmacy organizations; she currently serves as the Membership Chair for the Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP) and is President-Elect for the Greater Kansas City Society of Health System Pharmacists (GKCSHP).
