REHEARSE. There are two open rehearsals so far that we know of for Oktobellfest happening: consider attending one or both.
a. August 9, 2PM to 5PM in Westford, MA hosted by the New England Ringers: RSVP to Ringing Under the Influence https://forms.gle/CXtkMBPyVXngpiin9
b. July 19, 9AM to noon in Concord, NH hosted by the Granite State Ringers: RSVP to gsrmusicdirector@gmail.com Joan Fossum with your position number and a second choice. Space is limited.
ARRANGE TRAVEL. All rehearsals and the concert will be at the Historic Westerly Armory 41 Railroad Avenue, Westerly, Rhode Island 02891. Plan to be here in New England from Friday, September 26 at 6 PM to Sunday September 28 at around 3PM.
RSVP for the Pregame Happy Hour Pizza Party at the Grey Sail Brew company https://forms.gle/96GtPcgfRiWTbd276 We once again are pregaming at Grey Sail brewery at 63 Canal Street in Westerly for a welcome reception (pizza and salad paid for by the New England Ringers, purchase your own beverages) from 4PM-5:30PM, then back to the Armory for rehearsal at 6PM.
RESERVE LODGING. Plan where you will stay. The Saturday night dinner party will be held at the Haversham House at 336 Post Road in Westerly, a 12 minute drive from the Armory. We have stayed at the Pleasant View Inn in the past and there are some VRBOs around there as well. NOTE: This year we aren't serving breakfasts at the Armory, just snacks, fruit, coffee, so you might choose a hotel with breakfast or near a place to eat your brekkie. The WhatsApp group could be a good place to find lodging buddies.
RSVP and pay for guests for dinner. If you would like to bring a friend or family member to the dinner, the ticket is $60 for an adult. Send us a message at oktobellfest@gmail.com
CONSIDER PERFORMING A SOLO. Contact us if you'd like to perform an additional piece with your ensemble at the concert.
SWAG: CONSIDER ORDERING A PERSONALIZED OKTOBELLFEST FLEECE AND/OR POLAR PLUNGE ROBE. Order at this link, and your personalized fleece ($45) and/or robe ($40) will be ready for you on at the first rehearsal at the Armory. Yes--- a bathrobe! (Browse the photos of our Sunday Morning Polar Plunges from years past and you'll see why we want robes!) The Oktobellfest fleece is available in men's and women's styles, and the Polar Plunge robe is in two sizes. You can see the size chart through links on the order form.
PACK. The only thing we need you to bring (besides any equipment we have already contacted you about) is your music and a sense of humor. If you indicated you will bring your Burgundy Oktobellfest Polo from 2023 or 2024, bring that. For the performance you will wear the burgundy shirt. You need to wear something on your bottom half: but we don't care what. First timers: you will receive your Burgundy Oktobellfest Polo at the first rehearsal September 26. Gloves? Totally ringers' choice. In the past people wished they had stand lights, risers, and it can get warm in the rehearsal room. Maybe you want to join us in a quick dip in the ocean on Sunday bright and early? Bring something that can get wet. Other than that, just check the weather. You might need to park and walk a little to the Armory.
BEER. All our rehearsals are BYOB if you'd like to enjoy a brew while ringing or socializing all weekend! We hope to get a discount on some beers from Spyglass again to have available! Also, the Armory cash bar is open to everyone before and during the concert for purchasing beer and wine. That's a good way to support the Armory.
SINGING. Completely optional. We know that our audience likes to sing. If you'd like to join them, take a look at any lyrics to the songs and write them into your music. Beer Barrel Polka, This Land is Your Land, Morning Has Broken and even various parts of Barracuda and Shipping up to Boston will have some folks in the room singing.
ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE ANY, AND TELL US IF YOUR INFO CHANGES. Reply to this email for both Amie and Susie or call/text Susie at 508-471-8455. If you come down with an allergy to a particular food, or have a change in your email or shirt size, these are things we would like to know!
