Beer Barrel Polka
WORLD PREMIERE
arranged by Hart Morris
This year we have a special piece specifically for our event: The Beer Barrel Polka, arranged by Hart Morris!
When David Harris first reached out to Hart Morris with the idea for the arrangement for Oktobellfest 2022, Hart responded YES and that it was KARMA. So the story goes: once Hart was on a tour in Venice, and someone handed him an accordion on their gondola. Well, he was not up on any traditional Italian tunes, so Hart yielded to his first impulse: Beer Barrel Polka! The fingers were just remembering the mainstay of his youthful accordion career!
Hart Morris is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University (B.M. Church Music / Voice) and the University of Houston (M.M. Choral Conducting), with additional studies in percussion at Oklahoma City University and the University of Houston. He has served as a church music director in Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma. He has directed National Seminars and festivals, conferences and workshops, and twice represented the USA as a conductor for International Handbell Symposiums. He is a published composer / arranger of handbell and choral music.
