Assistant Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Oklahoma State University (2025-)
Tim was born in Wichita, KS and received his BSc in Electronics Engineering Physics from the University of Tulsa (2014), then his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from Texas A&M University (2019). His Kia Spectra has faithfully transported him to all the US cardinal directions: East to West Virginia University, North to the Air Force Research Lab in Ohio, South to Texas, and West to Sandia National Lab in California. (It's nearing 200,000 miles and possibly retirement). Tim is excited to return to the heartland at Oklahoma State University to begin his faculty career!
Tim's research focuses on rethinking computer hardware for implementing AI and machine learning software, leveraging nonlinear memory devices called memristors to mimic brain-inspired components, like neurons and synapses, to accelerate computation and to design nonlinear oscillators for novel communication platforms. This work is necessarily multi-disciplinary, lying at the intersection of materials science, physics, and electrical engineering. Researchers with a breadth of knowledge and creative, out-of-the-box ideas can make a big impact here.
