Happy New Year!
Did anyone make a resolution for the year? I don’t. I used to. Then, in 2016, I decided to have a motto for the year. It was “Keepin’ It Real!” . Boy, does God have a sense of humor. He kept it real for me via Breast Cancer! 😊Since then, I haven't made a motto or a resolution! I just try to improve myself and take things in stride & with prayer. I do have a few long term goals that I am working on. When I complete them, I’ll let you know! 😉 ~Dusty
Great news: We collected just over 1,000 Best Choice UPC labels! Melody Walden of Chi Chapter sent them in at the end of December. Thank you for doing that Melody! Thank you to all that contributed! We will continue this fundraiser in 2025. Please collect them & bring them to your Chapter President OR to me at a District Spring Meeting! Tip: Buy a case of Best Choice water bottles. On the case wrapper, there will be 2-3 upc codes & on each bottle there is 1 upc code. A whole case can have approx. 25 upc codes! What a haul! If each member did this 4 times, we’d have 1,000 upc codes very quickly!
More good news: Maintaining 111 members since May 2024! Chi has 3 potential members, Epsilon has a goal of 5 new members this biennium. Growth is Great! Each one, reach one! Pick a teacher friend to a meeting. If they can’t, invite them again to the next meeting! Be persistent & consistent. Personal story: I invited a friend of mine to AΔK meetings & events for over 10 years. She was busy, but interested. This past year, she joined! I’m so happy to have her as a sister!
Dues are due!
International dues ($40) were due on Dec. 31st. To avoid a $5 late fee, pay online or postmarked by January 31, 2025. More instructions are at the end of this newsletter.
State dues are $12. Members should turn these into their Chapter Treasurer. Chapter Treasurer will mail them to Kay McKenzie, State Treasurer. (See her address below.)
Zoom for Chapter Presidents &/or President-Elects
Zoom meeting for Chapter Presidents &/or President-Elects will be on Thursday, Jan 23 @ 8 pm.
Either or both can join. I want to go over a few things. Also, if you have questions or concerns, please present them at that time! Meeting will be limited to 39 minutes maximum. Here is the link: zoom
Scholarship Opportunities
Regional Professional Development Scholarship The Regional Professional Development Scholarship is designed to provide a member with funds to assist with pursuing a graduate degree or National Board Certification or state, provincial or national certification or recertification. The goal is to enrich educational experiences for children and youth. It is available to members actively engaged in teaching or the education field. Amount: Up to $1,500 per scholarship, $21,000 maximum annual funding. Due date: January 31st
The Agnes Robertson Global Outreach is designed to provide an AΔK member or chapter the opportunity for professional or personal growth through experiencing and/or studying another culture. This may be achieved within or beyond their S/P/N. The ARGO Scholarship provides an incentive for a member or chapter to enrich the lives of students by sharing with them the extended experience and knowledge of different cultures in our world. The relocation of people from around the world into our S/P/Ns provides a golden opportunity to broaden our knowledge and understanding of different cultures as they become part of our communities. The ARGO Scholarship offers $2,500 for a single scholarship or divided among two or more recipients. The amount awarded cannot exceed the applicant’s estimated expenses. Due date: February 15th.
