Disc golf is a great family sport. Get started at any age!
Instead of using golf balls, and clubs, to put the golf ball into a small hole, disc golfer uses disc and baskets, throwing the discs closer and closer to the basket, until the disc comes to rest inside the basket. The Professional Disc Golf Association, PDGA, has more in depth information on the history of the sport found here.

One disc can get a person started playing. Generally discs cost between $10-$20. There are starter disc sets at shops: Dicks Sporting Goods and Play It Again Sports, as well as online disc golf stores.
Rules for Play
Start from the teeing area. Player must throw from behind the front of the teeing area.
Subsequent throws are played from behind the spot where the previous throw came to rest. This spot is known as the “lie.” If your disc comes to rest in a tree or a bush, the lie is the spot on the ground directly below.
A run-up and follow through are allowed, but the player must release the disc before stepping past the lie.
A “putt” is a throw from within 10 meters of the target. When putting, you may not step past your lie before establishing a balance. The hole is completed when the disc comes to rest in the basket or chains. The hole is not complete if the disc is resting on top of the target.
If a throw goes out of bounds, play from either the last inbounds with a one throw penalty or re-throw with a one throw penalty.
Throwing order: lowest score tees first, after the tee throw, the player whose lie is farthest from the hole throws first. Do not throw until other players or park users are off the hole or out of range
The OK Disc Golf Park is a part of Volunteer Park, therefore all park rules are also in effect on the disc golf course.
