Old Kinderhook Disc Golf Course, OKDGC, is located in Volunteer Park on State Farm Road in Valatie, New York. Follow the park road towards the back of the park, near the pavilion to find the beginning of the course.
About the Course
Work on the course continues but we are pleased to announce the course now has ten baskets installed. The front 9 is a loop that begins and ends at the parking lot. New during the winter of 2024, Red Tees have been installed on each of the current nine holes, making a unique 18 hole round able to be played!
The basket for 18 is installed and can be used as a practice basket and signals the way up the hill to the small parking lot. Please note, the fairways are cut, the holes have temporary signs, and pathways are marked (mostly). However, off the fairway on any hole is fairly rough.
Course History
November 2021, the Board of the Town of Kinderhook, New York showed its support for building a disc golf course on some town park land which was at that time being used for walking trails. In March of 2022 the TOK Board gave final approval of the course design and volunteers began installing the disc golf course.
The gold-level (championship-level) course will be located on about 80 acres of land, both wooded and open fields, adjacent to the Valatie Kill, with gorgeous views of the Hudson River Valley and the historic Catskill mountains in the distance. Initially the course will have one set of tees and one basket, however, additional tees and baskets will be added as development continues.
Although grant applications are actively being pursued, donations toward the course are always being accepted. Additionally, proceeds from purchase of special fundraising discs, t-shirts, towels and hats will go directly toward toward funding the baskets, tee pads, signage and whatever else will make this course an amazing, challenging, fun course.
