Background:

Some believe that traditional schooling must change. Self-paced learning using AI-based apps, the Internet, and other digital technologies are changing how people learn. Students with an Internet connection  have access to materials, information, and lessons that they can use to study their own interests at their own pace. Considering this change in access to education, what goals should society place on traditional schooling and the roles of teachers?

Take the Initiative:

You work for an education consultancy firm. You have been asked to give your advice on how schools in Japan should prepare for the future. 

Develop your own vision for the future of formal education and explain what concrete steps schools and teachers need to take to prepare! In other words, think back to your own time as a student, from elementary school to this university, and think about the kind of classes you had, the tasks you were required to do, and the way teachers conducted your classes. What could be changed about that system to recognize how the Internet and connected devices have given students the power to take charge of their own learning?

Tip: 

To best prepare your presentation, focus your vision on one school type (elementary school ~ , etc.). What skills will be needed by future teachers, and what will be most important for students to learn? What should schools do to prepare for the future you see? In your vision, make sure to include and reference the SDGs. Keep in mind your vision has to be sustainable, allow for decent working conditions, and show some benefit to all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and society in general). What problems might there be in implementing your vision, and how would you solve them?

課題1：未来の教育への提案をする 

背景： 

伝統的な学校教育の仕組みは変わらなければいけないと考える人がいる。AIを中心としたアプリ、インターネット、他のデジタル技術などは、人々の学習の仕方に変化を与えています。インターネットに接続できる学生は、自分のペースで勉強をするための教材や、情報、授業にアクセスすることができる。このような教育方法の変化を考慮すると、社会は伝統的な学校教育の仕組みと教員の役割にどのような目標を置くべか。 

提案内容： 

あなたは教育コンサルタント会社で働いています。日本の学校が将来に向けてどのように準備すべきかについてアドバイスを求められました。 

未来の教育がどのようにあるべきかあなたのビジョンを策定し、学校と教員がそれに備えるためには、どのような具体的なステップを踏むべきなのか説明してください。生徒あるいは学生としての今までの時間（小学校から大学まで）を振り返り、授業内容、課題、先生の教育指導がどのようなものだったかを振り返ってみましょう。インターネットやデバイスがどのように生徒や学生たちの学習に役立っているのかを考えると、教育の仕組みはどのように変わるべきなのでしょうか。 

ヒント： 

プレゼンテーションに全力を尽くすためには、一つの学校（小学校、中学校、高校、大学）に焦点を当てましょう。どのようなスキルが未来の先生たちに必要か、また生徒や学生たちの学習にとって何が最も重要ですか？あなたが描いている未来に備えるためには学校は何をするべきですか？あなたのビジョンには、必ずSDGsを含み、言及してください。あなたのビジョンは持続可能であり、適切な労働条件を満たし、すべてのステークホルダー（一般的には両親、生徒や学生、教員、学校関係者、社会など）に何らかの恩恵を示すことが重要です。あなたのビジョンを実行するには、どのような問題があり、どのように解決しますか？ 

Background:

Child poverty is a global issue. For example, in the Philippines today, an estimated 40 million people are impoverished and live in urban slums. With little to no access to education, proper healthcare, or positive role models, children in these conditions are exposed to harsh realities. Often, they turn to crime simply to meet their basic needs, leading to intergenerational poverty and an unsustainable social fabric. As there is little government support, the Philippines have hosted NGOs to help combat this problem. 

Take the Initiative:

You are the leader of a group such an NGO that wants to help alleviate child poverty, but you need funding to make your project successful. Your presentation should be aimed at the people you hope will donate money to fund your project. Your presentation should concretely explain your initiative, and why you believe it will be effective in reducing child poverty in a real-world location.  

Tip: 

Your initiative should be tied to a real place and situation in the world, so make sure to research the current situation carefully and indicate where your action will be and specifically who you will be helping. Because you are trying to gather funding, you need to think about costs and explain your team’s budget to your potential donors. However, your presentation should be mainly about your initiative. Explain what you will do concretely and provide evidence and reasons why you believe it will be successful. 

課題2 子どもの貧困の解決にむけたプロジェクトを提案する 

背景 ：

子どもの貧困は世界的な課題である。例えば、フィリピンでは約4千万人が貧困状態のスラムに暮らしている。そこでは、教育や医療へのアクセスは限定的であり、身近なロールモデルも不在に近く、特に子どもたちは過酷な現状に晒されている。このような中、基本的な生活のニーズを満たすために犯罪行為を犯す子どももおり、世代間貧困の連鎖と社会不安が問題となっている。政府の公的支援が限定的な中、フィリピンのNGOはこの課題の解決に取り組んでいる。 

提案内容 ：

あなたはNGO等の子どもの貧困課題の解決を目指す団体の代表です。活動を成功に導くためには財源を確保する必要があります。そこで、寄付金を募るために、ドナー（支援者）を対象にしたプレゼンテーションを行ってください。あなたの団体の活動内容と、その活動がなぜその特定地域の子どもの貧困削減に効果があると考えるのかを具体的に説明してください。

ヒント ：

提案をより具体的なものとするために、世界に実在する特定の場所を設定して、どこで活動し、だれを支援対象とするのかを明確にしてください。あなたの団体の活動資金を集めるため、活動費用をドナーに説明してください。しかし、課題解決への取り組みを中心にプレゼンテーションを行ってください。具体的にどのような活動を行うのか、そしてその活動が課題解決に資すると考える理由は何かを実証的に説明してください。 

Background:

Now with more than $35 trillion US dollars globally, ESG funds and companies have been gaining traction worldwide. To be in the ESG category, an organization must pay attention to certain strict criteria in the three areas:

• E (environment): (Examples: cutting its CO2 emissions; reducing its reliance on fossil fuel energy.)

• S (social): (Examples: giving back to society; considering the local community when making decisions.)

• G (governance): (Examples: being transparent about company activities; treating workers fairly.)

Institutions that ignore this trend may fall behind as the world moves towards sustainability.

Take the Initiative:

OGU wants to be a model for other universities in Japan to raise not only its academic profile, but also become recognized as an environmentally conscious institution.

You are an environmental consultant focusing on the “E” in ESG, and have been asked by OGU to propose a plan for the university to become more environmentally sustainable. Create an initiative for OGU to have a positive environmental impact and be a model for other universities in Japan and the world.

Tip:

For your proposal, develop a strategy on changes OGU can make to be a more environmentally friendly campus/university. For some initial ideas, research what other universities have done regarding the environment. When discussing your initiative, refer to at least one of the SDGs. Consider a strategy that includes not only administration/teachers, but also student action. Make sure that you give a specific idea and outline the reasons why you think it would be effective. Finally, make sure to discuss the weak points of your plan and how they can be overcome。 

課題３： 追手門学院大学を地球環境にやさしい大学にするための戦略を提案をする  

背景:

現在、世界で35兆米ドルを超える資金規模といわれるESGファンドと、ESG適合企業（E環境、S社会、Gガバナンスに準拠している）は世界中から注目されている。組織や企業が、ESGの基準を守っているという認定を受けるためには、E（環境）、S（社会）、G（ガバナンス）の3つの分野で特定の厳格な基準を満たす必要がある。

• E (環境保持）例：化石燃料への依存度を減らし、CO2排出量を削減する。

• S (社会的責任)  例 : 企業活動における地域社会への貢献度を重視する。

• G (ガバナンス)  例：企業統治の透明性の確保、従業員の適正な処遇を行う。

これをないがしろにする組織や企業は、世界のトレンドである持続可能性の実現に対して乗り遅れてしまう恐れがある。

提案内容：

追手門学院大学のESGに対する取り組みは、学業面のみではなく、環境に配慮する大学であると認識されることであり、日本の他の大学のモデルケースになることが理想です。あなたは特に　”E"　の環境面でのESGコンサルタントであり、追手門学院大学から、持続可能性の高い環境に配慮した大学になるための計画を提案するよう依頼されました。 追手門学院大学が、環境面でプラスになり、世界や日本のほかの大学に対して、モデルケースとなるような提案をしてください。

ヒント：

提案の中で、追手門学院大学がもっと環境面で地球にやさしいキャンパスとなるための改革戦略を立てましょう。まずは、他の組織や企業が環境に対してどのような対策を講じたのかについて調査します。プレゼンテーションでは、少なくとも一つのSDG項目について言及してください。提案する戦略には大学そのものや教員だけではなく、学生としての活動も含んでください。必ず具体的なアイデアを提示し、それらがなぜ効果的であると考えられるのかについて、その理由を説明してください。最後に、提案の中で、今後の弱点あるいは問題点と思われる個所と、それらを克服する方法についてのチーム内での議論を盛り込みましょう。
