Ohio Virtual Academy School Counseling Vision
The Ohio Virtual Academy School Counseling Department believes that all planning and programming is student centered and innovative. We believe every student has something unique to contribute. Our passionate and engaged counselors provide a safe and nurturing learning environment. Students are inspired to reach their full potential both inside and outside of the classroom. Our School Counselors, in partnership with parents and learning coaches, advocate for all students. Students are empowered to achieve academic success, to strive for personal growth, and to develop comprehensive career plans to attain their goals after leaving Ohio Virtual Academy as educated and productive citizens in their local communities.
School Counselor Beliefs
The School Counselors at Ohio Virtual Academy believe:
1. All students can achieve success.
2. Every student is valuable and should be treated with dignity and respect.
3. All students will have access to high quality school counseling services provided by a full-time licensed, professional school counselor.
4. Student diversity is respected and integral to the design and delivery of school counseling services.
5. All students can expect that the online school environment is safe, nurturing and responsive.
6. The student and parents/learning coaches are responsible for monitoring the student's educational progress with the assistance of a licensed school counselor to evaluate and monitor progress towards graduation requirements.
RAMP Designation
The Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) School Counseling Department was awarded the highest recognition in the school counseling profession, the prestigious Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation.
In doing so, OHVA becomes the first Stride-powered school to receive this recognition. We are just one of five Ohio schools, and are only one of a few online schools nationwide to have this designation!

Stride Mental Health Series
Stride is partnering with the Cook Center For Human Connection to provide an online community for enrolled families who have mental health questions and/or concerns. Families can join monthly sessions throughout the year with leading experts, therapists, and counselors that focus on strengthening human connections, identity formation, substance abuse challenges, and suicidal ideation, among other topics.
