Student Director

Must attend all rehearsals
Assists the Stage Manager with all of their activities
These crews will function in every show all season long. Each crew listed here is equipped with a Crew Head and Assistant Crew Head that will oversee the workings of the entire crew in each show. A position as a Crew Head and your placement into a crew does not always carry over into the next show, so Crew Heads are chosen at the beginning of each production after an interview with the Directors before the rehearsal process begins. Good work ethic, initiative, and dedication are integral to each of these crews. There is no time to sit around!
Overseen by the Master Carpenter and Fly Captain
Build and assemble all of the sets for every show
Work in the shop with power tools under the supervision of Directors (cutting wood, sanding wood, using staple guns, using drills)
Fly Captain learns and operates the stage's fly system to move sets in and out for scene changes
Communication and attention to detail are key to the success of this crew
Overseen by Paint Head and Assistant Paint Head
Paints all of the sets for every show that are built by Carpentry
Scenic Artists sketch out ideas for the set
Learn techniques on how to properly mix and apply paint
Learn proper cleaning and disposal of paint supplies
Creativity and attention to detail are key to the success of this crew
Overseen by Lights Head and Assistant Lights Head
Annotate script with lighting cues
Learn how to work spotlights, stage lights, and patterned lights under direction of OPAC managers
Work in the light booth for each show and communicate using headsets
Communication and creativity are key to the success of this crew
Overseen by Sound Head and Assistant Sound Head
Annotate script with sound effects and creates an audio cue list based on the needs of the show
Learn how to work the Mixer Board and operate sound effects
Learn how to properly equip all actors with mics, how to properly handle mic packs, and how to run mic checks
A1 and A2 Crew Only Members work at the Mixer Board during each show night to run sound effects and work mic levels

Overseen by Costumes Head and Assistant Costumes Head
Annotate script with costume needs and costume changes
Research costumes of the set time period of the show and create a Google Slides presentation for each character's needs
Determine what the Costume Closet has for the show and what needs to be created and/or purchased and collect measurements for costumes
In charge of the organization and cleanliness of the dressing rooms during show nights
Organization and attention to detail are key to the success of this crew
Overseen by Hair & Makeup Head and Assistant Hair & Makeup Head
Research appropriate makeup and hairdos of the set time period of the show and create a Google Slide presentation for each character's needs
Determine what the Green Room has and what needs to be purchased
Work on makeup looks and hairdos during rehearsals to practice and determine what looks are best for the showsÂ
In charge of the organization and cleanliness of the Green Room during show nights

Overseen by Props Head and Assistant Props Head
Annotate script with props needs and formulate a props list
Determine what props are available in storage and what props need to be made/purchased/borrowed
Set up the Props Table backstage for all performances and take responsibility for the organization of props throughout the run

Overseen by Publicity Head and Assistant Publicity Head
Promote the show EVERYWHERE
Create the playbill for each show called the "Pawbill" and collect donations from local business in exchange for ad space in it
Design the show shirts that cast and crew can purchase for each show
Brainstorm social media ideas for the Guild's Communications Director
Design posters to hang up around the school and at local businesses
Decorate the Atrium and House for show nights
Creativity and communication are key to the success of this crew
Overseen by Directors, Stage Managers, Assistant Stage Managers, and Tech Directors
Running Crew is all cast and crew members that are available and have been assigned sets and props to move on and offstage during scene changes - they are the ones that move the show along
House Crew are the selected cast and crew members that usher guests to their seats before performances - they are the ones that provide our audience members with hospitality before our shows
Efficiency and respect are key to the success of both of these crews
These are positions and groups that are only necessary and available during the run of the spring musical and they focus on the singing and the dancing aspects of theatre. These are also positions that require interviews/auditions for.
Present for every vocal rehearsal
Learns the libretto (vocal score)
Assists the Music Director in teaching the music
Cast should be able to go to them with questions about music
Present for every dance rehearsal
Learns all of the choreography in the show provided by the Choreographer
Assist the Choreographer in teaching dances
Cast should be able to go to them with questions about dances
Usually also Dance Captains, Student Choreographers help to choreograph parts of the show that the Choreographer needs help with or smaller scenes that can be entrusted to the students to work with
