What is the tournament format?

• We will follow the 2020 Spikeball Roundnet Association tournament formatting, as follows:
  • We will aim to have pools of 5-6 teams with single games to 21 with a cap at 25. Depending on number of teams we may need to have pools of 7-8 teams and we will have single games to 15 with a cap at 21. Pool play will determine seeding for bracket play - everyone will qualify for a spot in the elimination brackets.
  • Bracket Play will also follow the 2020 SRA format: We will be using single elimination for all brackets and consolation brackets if you lose in the first or second round so you’ll play out for final rankings. As such, every team will be guaranteed at least two bracket play matches.
    • Each tournament may require a different type of format depending on numbers of teams registered among other factors. Be aware that a tournament format may be different than outlined above and may include division splits for bracket play, double elimination brackets. We want to retain this flexibility to ensure we can adapt to the best solution for each tournament.

How do I register?

• Each tournament will have an online registration you will need to use to sign up ahead of time. Click on the specific tournament to get the registration details and deadlines.
  • NO DAY OF TOURNAMENT SIGN UPS WILL BE ALLOWED. We’re sorry, but it ruins the pools/brackets for the rest of the teams as they are put together the night before. Registration links will be closed at 8PM the night prior.

Which division should I register for?

Each tournament will have various divisions. Generally, the Spikeball Tour Series will have all 5 of the below divisions; while friendlies will have just Recreational and Competitive divisions. At any tournament, there must be at least 6 teams sign up in any division or it will need to merge with another division.

• Co-Ed: Single division for male/female combo teams
• Women’s: Two-female teams will have a discounted registration fee at all tournaments offering a women’s division.
• Beginner: This is for those who are very new to the sport. Playing for fun and learning the rules. Gentlemen’s serving rules will be enforced (if you can serve hard, this isn’t the division for you anyway). Will also have a discounted registration fee at all tournaments offering a beginner’s division.
• Intermediate: You know the rules, are fairly consistent and competitive against most players.
• Advanced: You want to be the best, you've gotta compete against the best.
  • Division Promotions Rules: Teams that take 1st or 2nd place in the Beginner or Intermediate divisions will be required to promote to the next division at future tournaments. This insures that everyone plays at the proper level and that other teams still have fun playing against the proper competition level. After all, you will only get better if you play better teams!
  • We also reserve the right to deny any player to play in a specific division if we deem them too skilled.
• Premiere / Expert: You've already proven you're special... but how special? Can you become one of the Pros???
