Area Offices on Aging have Title III funding of the Older Americans Act. Older Americans Act and transportation requirements are part of Ohio Administrative Code.
Title 59 was created after the Civil War to protect the veterans and their families. It is written into Ohio Revised Code (ORC) that a percent of county funding is held aside for veteran services. In ORC 5907.07 it specifically discusses assisting veterans with transportation to veteran homes (hospitals). Each county operates these services differently.
Disabled American Veterans program has resources for vehicles, gas, and insurance. These vehicles are only for veterans going to VA medical appointments.
The Center maintains a database and map of volunteer transportation programs. It also includes technical materials related to the planning, organization, and operations of volunteer transportation. It also has a rich history of research, direct service delivery, risk management, and insurance, specialized software, and education.
