Tuesday 16th June 2026
Date and time: 6/16 (Day 3 Tuesday): 5:00pm-6:00pm
Location: Room C
Moderated by: the Women Faculty SIG. Carolina Makowski (UCSD).
Panelists: Anna Wang Roe (NYU), Sharna Jamadar (Monash University), Hyang Woon Lee (EWHA Woman’s University, Seoul), Patricia Figueiredo (Instituto Superior Técnico, ULisboa).
Summary: This in-person event will bring together women faculty, trainees, and allies from across the OHBM community to foster professional growth, mentorship, and meaningful peer connections. Building on the strong engagement and community input from previous WF-SIG events, this session will address persistent challenges faced by women scientists in academia, including work/life integration, leadership development, career advancement, and the transition to faculty roles. A moderated career panel featuring mid-career and senior women scientists from around the world will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives, discuss shared experiences, and gain practical strategies for navigating academic careers. The interactive roundtable format will encourage open dialogue and audience participation, creating an inclusive space for discussion, peer support, and mentorship across career stages. This session is designed to strengthen professional relationships, encourage collaboration, and expand support networks within the OHBM community. Our goal is for participants to leave with actionable insights, new professional connections, and a renewed sense of community to support their continued growth and long-term success in academia. Open to scientists of all genders, career stages, and allies of women faculty.

Our hope is that participants will depart with actionable insights, new connections, and a renewed sense of community to support their long-term success in academia.
