I grew up as a pianist, started playing piano long before school age. Music and piano have been my life-long passion and best friend. Piano playing, performing, accompanying, playing for church and school have been a substantial part of my life as a child and as an adult. I gave performances in various settings in many different places and cities. I am so excited to help guiding musicians of all ages and experiences (no experience is required) to make music. My philosophy of teaching is training holistic pianists and musicians: enhancing pianists' functional skills as well as expanding the variety of repertoires, for instance to be able to play by ear and to be able to accompany singers or other instrumentalists, including another pianist. I love tailoring individualized lessons for each student's needs. In addition to my piano performance and pedagogy experiences, I am well trained and have teaching experiences in various approaches of teaching styles: Kodály, Orff Schulwerk, Dalcroze, and Music Learning Theory. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Michigan State University, a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Texas State University, and Teaching Certificates in the states of Texas and Michigan. Besides teaching at the Oh Piano Studio, I taught at Round Rock ISD, Austin ISD, Texas State University as a Senior Lecturer, and the University of Oklahoma as a Teaching Assistant when I was a doctoral student in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. I live with my husband, my two children, and a toy poodle. When not teaching, I love to practice my instruments, cook, and travel. I can't wait to see you in my studio!
