Tryout Information

Tryouts will begin on Monday, February 24, 2020:

  • 3:15 - 4:00 on aux field then move to stadium field 4:00 - 4:45

The remainder of tryouts will be Tuesday 2/25 & Wednesday 2/26. Other dates (2/27 & 2/28) will be held at the discretion of the coach.

Please do not plan on being out of town and missing the first day of tryouts. That is one less day you have to show the coaches your abilities.

In order to tryout (and also participate in Green Days) all players must have the following turned into the Director of Student Activities Office. Once cleared by the office, the student will be given a Try Out Card acknowledging they can play. The Try Out Card will be presented to Coach Wickham as proof that the player is ready to participate.

Eligibility Requirements:

OR

Each student-athlete will be given the opportunity to put herself on the team. Each student athlete will be given a minimum of three days to impress her talents upon the coaching staff. The exact size of the squad will be determined by the coaching staff ranging anywhere from 18 to 26 players. High school level soccer is not a recreational activity. Players will be selected objectively and subjectively based on tactical, technical, team chemistry and physical standards.

All juniors and seniors must try out for varsity. In addition, all returning players (to include sophomores) start at the varsity tryouts. If a sophomore does not make the varsity team she will participate in the rest of the jv tryouts.

All freshmen and sophomores (who were not on the jv team previously) will be trying out for the jv team unless told otherwise by Coach Wickham.

Technical Abilities: comfort level on ball, pass and receive with both feet, etc.

Tactical Abilities: how well you predict/read the game, game awareness, etc.

Team Chemistry: how do you interact with teammates, coaching staff, resilient learner, reception to constructive criticism, etc.

Physical Abilities: pace, fitness, strength, etc.

It is very important that players be fit before tryouts begin. There is very little time allowed to prepare for the season that none can be wasted on fitness leading up to the first match.
