After you download an area, use the Google Maps app just like you normally would. If your internet connection is slow or absent, your offline maps will guide you to your destination as long as the entire route is within the offline map.

Offline maps that you downloaded on your phone or tablet must be updated before they expire. When your offline maps expire in 15 days or less, Google Maps tries to update the area automatically when you're connected to Wi-Fi.

With offline maps in iOS 17 and later, you can use Maps for information and navigation even when you don't have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Offline maps include details like hours and ratings on places, turn-by-turn directions for driving, walking, cycling, or riding transit, and estimated arrival times.

Offline maps do not sync across your devices. Offline maps are only available in select areas. An offline map for a specific region is not intended for use in all regions. Features vary by country and region.

Navigate anywhere, even without an internet connection. Our navigation with offline maps always works, even when there is no internet connection, so you can rely on Sygic GPS Navigation to guide you to your destination.

You can choose from maps for over 200 countries and save those that you need to your phone. High quality offline maps, millions of points of interest and software for route calculation, will be stored on the phone in your pocket. We update the maps 3 times per year for free, so you will always drive with the latest maps.

Develop your apps with Offline Maps & Navigation SDK

Sygic offers SDK for rapid app development kit to bring online and offline GPS navigation and maps experience into your apps. Click here to see the technical documentation.

I have an idea of building offline Map for my University Campus (its covering almost 3-4 miles). Like new students or guests can navigate to various blocks in campus. Student can see himself/herself marked on map at current location & can chose destination from pre-defined list of places and application will navigate them.

I have explored alot like maptiles can help me in showing maps. But is there any other efficient way of showing campus map ? And I have no idea how will I navigate user (since being a private property area is out of reach of Google's Maps (or some other) API).

Mapbox iOS SDK

There are three methods available to the Mapbox iOS SDK for offline maps. With cache-based methods, the RMTileCache for an RMMapView can be configured to keep map tiles around based on their count or based on their age in the cache.

It's OSM based and provides full support for offline maps, offline routing & TBT navigation. If you properly connect the road segments then the SDK will be able to create car, bike & pedestrian routes on your data.

Download maps of hundreds of countries, navigate using 3D maps, and travel the world with Offline Maps & Navigation. No matter where your destination is, this app will find the best route to get you there.

Make sure you've downloaded the maps of the areas you'd like to search offline. Check that you've tagged the option to use the app in offline mode. The street, city or region should be spelled correctly with no mistakes. Abbreviations might affect the app's results.

For example, in order for me to get all of the state of Utah, I have to download a minimum of four different maps. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if it wasn't for the fact that I have to instruct Google Maps on which of those to use each time I move from one to another. I would prefer to just download the entire state in one large map and call it a day. Even if they expire once a year, that wouldn't be as big of a deal.

For reference, the reason I need this is because I have an Android based head unit that can run Android Apps. Comes with Google Maps natively but does not have a network connection to download maps unless I have my phone connected with WiFi on and I would like to be able to use it without my phone being connected.

My use case is that I have a polygon feature layer and I am capturing point locations within different polygons using quick capture. I need the polygons visible on the map to aid navigation and to know which polygon I am in. The polygon feature layer is updated on a regular basis (daily) however.

Hi Mark, yes the device needs to be online when the project map is opened for the first time, otherwise, you won't see the data coming from online layers. Once loaded, you can go offline and still view the data loaded from these online layers, but won't be able to get any updates.

We are planning to add support for offline areas. This means that you can link an associated map area to a project. In ArcGIS Online map areas can be configured to update on a daily basis and this would pick up any new features added to the included layers. The user of the app would see updates in the app so that they could download the updates if they are online.

Just to clarify on my second point, this is only the case when the MMPK is made with hosted feature layers and when the "reference online content" option is checked in the Arcgis Pro geoprocessing tool. If I make a MMPK without checking "reference online content" then there is no problem opening this in QuickCapture when the device is offline. However this brings me back to my original problem in that the features in the MMPK won't be up to date from this point forward.

We have added a fix for the issue you are seeing with MMPKs referencing online content. This is a wider issue affecting offline maps in general. This will be available in 1.7 that is due for release later this week.

Offline GPS is a vital feature for any maps app. You'll use it if you're exploring a foreign city and have data roaming turned off, or if you drive into a dead zone during a road trip. Here are the best free offline GPS apps for Android.

To download a map, tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Offline Maps. Google will recommend some maps for you to download based on your home and frequent locations. You can also tap Select Your Own Map to download another area.

Over the years, it has rolled out innovative new features including a live-view function that takes the camera input from your phone and overlays the navigation instructions directly on top of what you see. Other noteworthy features include free map updates, voice-guided GPS navigation, and pedestrian GPS navigation for when you're on foot.

In some countries, the offline map even boasts features such as opening times and accepted payment methods of stores. Lastly, this is an app skiers should have. There's a paid plugin that shows route maps for many of the world's most popular resorts.

In offline mode, you can enjoy a full-featured search function, voice navigation, re-routing calculation, and public transportation details. You will also see restaurants, ATMs, and places of interest. If you're online, you can share your location with friends, add bookmarks, and even make hotel bookings without leaving the app. This makes it a great Android app for traveling.

The maps are kept up-to-date by OpenStreetMap and are entirely open source. The developers behind the app have also made a promise to keep all maps and features free forever; there are no plans to introduce a pricing structure. MAPS.ME is ad-supported.

When you fire up the app for the first time, it will prompt you to download maps for offline usage. That's because there is no online map function here. Instead, the app offers more than 200 standalone individual maps to choose from, including 56 in Europe and 53 in the Americas.

The maps are organized by country, but densely populated areas have sub-regions available. You can also find maps for speed cameras in certain areas. Each map pulls its data from OpenStreetMap and recent features include Android Auto compatibility, so you can use your maps with your built-in car display.

HERE WeGo is another app that specializes in offline GPS navigation. It offers offline maps for more than 100 countries and they include directions, public transportation ticket prices, car-sharing prices, and train and bus timetables.

You can enjoy a free 14-day trial of the premium features. These include 3D maps and an audio navigation assistant. Once the trial expires, the app limits you to 2D offline maps and visual turn-by-turn directions.

These are some of the best offline maps for Android that will help you get where you're going, even without data. But we'll leave you with a quick word of warning: continuously running GPS apps in the background will quickly drain your battery.

Quick tip: Downloaded maps do expire. According to Google, you have up to 15 days after you dow load it before it's automatically deleted. Make sure you update the directions on Google Maps during that time frame.

4. Tap Download twice. Or, if you searched for a place like a restaurant, you'll have to also tap More and then Download offline map followed by Download.

You can find downloaded Google maps within the app's Offline Maps section. By tapping into the listed offline maps, you'll have the option to delete them, rename areas (via the edit function), or update them. ff782bc1db
