My name is Magen Moreno and I have been a sworn Police Officer at Prince George County Police Department since October of 2014. Prior to working for PGPD, I worked at Riverside Regional Jail for 8 years. I have been assigned as a School Resource Officer at LL Beazley Elementary since the 2019-2020 school year.
I became a police officer to assist in safeguarding my community and am passionate about building relationships with the citizens of Prince George County - especially the youngest ones. My High School SRO (Killeen, TX - Shoemaker H.S. Officer Bull) significantly impacted me in the two years I attended there, and I hope to do the same for my students.
If you as a parent have ANY problem arise that will affect your child's well- being, PLEASE CONTACT ME. These situations could include but are not limited to.... car won't start, no food in the house, no running water, no clothing, not enough beds, etc. There are community resources that can assist you before the problem escalates, and from my experience Beazley does the very best at taking care of our little lions. I cannot stress enough, do not hesitate to contact me.
I became a D.A.R.E. instructor in 2019 and look forward to teaching the program every year. I am excited to continue to get to know all of the students and parents here at Beazley! I want to do my part in teaching the students the importance of good decision-making, being responsible, knowing their worth, and positive ways of dealing with stressful situations. I advocate for mental health, self-care, emotional well-being, communication, mindfulness, and accountability. I pride myself on being an additional person in you and your child's help network! My oldest son was part of my first D.A.R.E. program, as he attended Beazley all through elementary school, and my two younger sons are now Beazley Lions as well.
I look forward to the opportunity of interacting with your students in any way that I can, as I focus on maintaining a safe learning environment for both students and staff. As we move forward into the school year. I am here to assist you with any challenges that may arise, and to help educate students and staff on issues related to law enforcement and school safety.
As your SRO, I am committed to:
❖ Being visible within the school community to help deter criminal activity and student misconduct.
❖ Attending and participating in school functions.
❖ Building working relationships with the school’s staff as well as with student and parent groups.
❖ Initiating interactions with students in the classroom.
❖ Promoting the profession of law enforcement and being a positive role model to students.
❖ Working with staff members to establish a safe and secure learning environment.
❖ Being an advocate on behalf of faculty members for emergency response training.
Please understand that we have a variety of students with a vast difference in needs. As a school we will strive to make sure every student has an opportunity to learn in a safe and productive environment. We hope to work with parents as a team to help your students get the best opportunities available.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with your concerns and questions. I may be reached by e-mail at mmoreno@princegeorgecountyva.gov, mmoreno@pgs.k12.va.us or by calling the school. My school office is located in the cafeteria, but am always available anywhere on campus as needed. You can always check into the main office while I am there and do not need an appointment to do so. If I am available, I will see you.
Please let’s work together for the safety of all. Let’s have an outstanding school year.
