This site is intended to be a resource for learning about, researching, accessing and sharing open educational resources. The topic of OERs is very broad and there is no way to cover all the facets of the topic in one location. With that in mind, consider this site a fluid, inexhaustible resource on the topic.

The toolbox is divided into 6 sections covering the basic topics covered on OER. Commentary in each section is taken from the Open Educational Resources Educator Handbook*. Feel free to explore each section and suggest new topics to be added.

*Open Educational Resources Educator Handbook is available in eBook and PDF format and is part of the public domain or can be purchased in paperback format.

OER Defined

Open educational resources (OER) are free and openly licensed educational materials that can be used for teaching, learning, research, and other purposes.

Open Education "...is the simple and powerful idea that the world’s knowledge is a public good and that technology in general and the Web in particular provide an extraordinary opportunity for everyone to share, use, and reuse knowledge."
